Friends 4 Ever

For this week’s Global Design Project #GDP007 we were challenged to create a card with a theme: Farm. My first instinct was to use the Barnyard Babies stamp set from Stampin’ Up! I only recently acquired this set and thought this would be a great time to use it again. I nailed the stamp set, but was stumped as to where my project would lead.

As I was organizing my thoughts, my desk was a little less organized and there were lots of Halloween goodies from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog scattered about. Wouldn’t you know, I found my farm inspiration in a piece of Happy Hauntings Designer Series Paper?

Charlotte's Web Card for #GDP007

Combining the pig in the stamp set with this spider web background brought back some childhood memories. Charlotte’s Web, the story of two unlikely friends was the perfect inspiration for my farm-based card.

Simple coloring of the the pig with Calypso Coral ink and and an Aqua Painter adds shape to the stamped image. A Calypso Coral border ties the color back to the otherwise neutral palette.

Barnyard Babies includes many farm animal images and wonderful sentiments, but it did not include the one I was looking for. I reached for the Stampin’ Up! Alphabet Rotary Stamp. This unique stamp allows you to create your own sentiment. I embossed the sentiment on a strip of Basic Black cardstock to contrast the background.

I hope you enjoyed my card today. Be sure to check out more farm-themed inspiration in this week’s Global Design Project challenge. Of course, we would love for you to play along as well.
