Love and Affection Sneak Peek

Love and Affection and Hello You Thinlits

The Global Design Project is CASEing the Designer this week. It’s always fun when we CASE a project and this week we’re getting inspiration from a card by Paula Dobson of New Zealand. Paula offers beautiful work each week, but my favorite is her use of color. It will not take long browsing her blog before you notice she has a talent of making unique color combinations and demonstrates a mastery of coloring techniques.

Global Design Project #GDP36

Today, I’m showing you how easy it can be to CASE a card using the supplies you have on hand. In fact, my card is so close to the original, all I changed was the stamp set and one of the colors. I also changed the layout a little by flipping Paula’s upside down.

I’m using the new Love & Affection stamp set and Emerald Envy In Color that will be released on June 1, 2016.

You Make Me Ridiculously Happy

The stamp set didn’t include long branches, but because these are clear, photopolymer stamps, I was easily able to line up the branches to give them a longer appearance. This arrangement reminds me of the weeping willow in our garden.

Stamping off the ink—that is, stamping the image multiple times before re-inking—gives the images depth and the appearance of additional colors.

I hope you enjoy the card today and play along with us at Global Design Project. Head over and see how the other designers creatively CASEd Paula’s card. It’s always fun to see what parts they get inspired by and you’ll be amazed at the variety.

Don’t forget to add your project and you don’t need a blog to play along. Just post your image on a public forum and share the link on the link-up.

Love this! But how did you get it to appear that the words were stamped over the die-cut word “you”? LOVE the effect!

I was wondering this too! It looks so evenly stamped over the bumps of the “you.”

It was actually pretty simple. I stamped the sentiment on the card first, then after placing the die cut over the sentiment to give me an idea of where to stamp, I just re-stamped the sentiment over the cut.
