Joy for Pretty Pines

It’s been a while, but I’m back for this week’s Global Design Project challenge. If you follow my blog, you’ll know that I work in office supplies and we just had our—queue the music—Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Back to School. Speaking of which, since I’ve been gone, the Holiday Catalog by Stampin’ Up! has been released and I have a lot to show you in the coming weeks.

Today, I’ll share my favorite products in the Holiday catalog: the Presents & Pinecones suite. This bundle was first on my list and as such, I had to share them first too. In the spirit of disclosure, I love pinecones anyway, but these sets of stamps and Thinlits really bring out the beauty of them to me.

This card was inspired by this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge, which I think suits it perfectly.

Global Design Project #GDP054

My project starts by embossing Crumb Cake cardstock with the Pine Bough Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I love adding texture to a card without the distraction of an additional color.

I cut banners from Present & Pinecones Designer Series Paper using the Triple Banner Punch and layered them with matching pine boughs cut with Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies. Mint Macaron and Emerald Envy cardstock coordinate with the Designer Series Paper and add a modern pallet of greens to this year’s holiday projects.

Pinecones were cut using Gold Foil and Early Espresso cardstock. “Joy” was embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder over Cherry Cobbler card. The pieces were layered and tied with Gold Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s project. See all of the products from the Presents & Pinecones suite below. Take some time to play along with us at Global Design Project. This week’s sketch can be found here. I’m so happy to be back and can’t wait to share and see what you share each week on the challenges.
