Carols of Christmas

Welcome to a Global Design Project Color Challenge. This week’s colors of Gold, Basic Black and Old Olive make a modern, chic combination for perfect for an alternative Christmas palette.
Global Design Project #GDP109
My card takes the best of this color scheme that can be found in the Merry Little Christmas suite from the 2017 Holiday Catalog and combines it with some of my favorite products in the annual catalog.

The base of my card is Crumb Cake cardstock with a layer of Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper. Two-thirds of it was covered by a piece of Crumb Cake embossed with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder—one of my favorites.

A sentiment from the Carols of Christmas stamp set was stamped with Basic Black Archival ink over Whisper White cardstock. That was cut out using a square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and layered over another piece of Whisper White cut from the Layering Squares Framelits Dies.

Another one of my favorite items in the annual catalog are the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies. I used them here to cut all the foliage from Old Olive, Basic Black and Gold Foil cardstock. I accentuated the ends of the small black sprigs with a Fine-Tip Glue pen to look like berries and to add a little shine and texture.

Use a Fine-Tip Glue Pen to add beads of glue to the ends of these sprigs. Allow them to dry for a clear, glossy effect.

Basic Black Baker’s Twine and a stripe of gold from Year of Cheer Designer Washi Tape add some horizontal elements to the design.

I love layering bits and pieces like this over a card. It creates lots of texture adds tons of interest to a simple layout.
