With the holidays fast upon us, the crafting season is sure to be picking up. I imagine your stress level will follow suit. That’s why I’m sharing this adorable card today; to remind you that making cards—especially for Christmas—is all about joy.
Today’s card is inspired by Global Design Project #GDP165, a color challenge. Seasonal colors of Tranquil Tide, Merry Merlot and Crumb Cake are a great combination to jump start your Christmas crafting. I added a little copper to complement the palette and to sneak in my favorite ribbon in Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog; the Feathers & Frost stamp set featured on my card is a favorite too.
My card starts starts by painting with ink and Aqua Painters. Embossing the stamped images on watercolor paper makes it easy to color. The embossed nooks and crannies act as wells where water can pool without blending with other colors. Be sure to allow the ink to dry and apply more color where you need it. You can darken specific areas or add shadows like I did in the leaves.
The background is made using a Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on half a square of Crumb Cake cardstock. I loosely cut the images and attached them with Stampin’ Dimensionals for added depth. I knotted some Merry Merlot & Copper ribbon and attached it with Mini glue dots—seriously the best way to attach ribbons.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the card and consider getting your holiday stamping started. Check back soon for more ideas. I will soon introduce some #simplestamping cards you can make in bulk for your holiday list.
