Happy Monday! It’s time for a sketch challenge with Global Design Project. The best part of a simple sketch like this is how creative you can get in the way you interpret it. That’s easy to see just from the design team samples.
I thought this was a great sketch to introduce you to the Above the Clouds stamp set from the 2019–2020 Annual Catalog. This new hot air balloon suite also includes a punch, but for these little balloons in the set, I simply cut them out by hand (don’t worry, it was easy to do).
To keep the background fairly neutral; I added only a few touches of Pool Party blue. First I sponged a piece of Whisper White cardstock with the subtle blue. The sponging adds depth for the strip of clouds to stand out. The clouds were stamped with Pool Party and a blue edge was also added.
The three little balloons come all together on two stamps: the outline and the fill. First I stamped the outline with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, then I individually inked the fills with Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral and Mango Melody. The images are far apart enough to ink on the corner of the ink pad without masking.
The sentiment was heat-embossed with white Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black cardstock. It really pops. A Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals behind each balloon adds variety to the otherwise flat card.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the card today. Be sure to play along with this simple, but fun sketch at Global Design Project. We would love to see what you come up with.
