Ever need a head start to create your next card? Nothing is easier than starting with a sketch and using some beautiful patterned paper to simplify the card-making process.
This week I’m using Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper and a sketch from Global Design Project and I love it so much.
The Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper is printed from hand-painted originals with vibrant colors that coordinate beautifully and instantly turn your projects into works of art.
My card starts with a Whisper White card base layered with a heavy pattern of Designer Series Paper. To give the focal more prominence, I used some Vellum Cardstock to breakup the pattern a bit.
The top layer is made with another piece of Whisper White cardstock and columns of another piece of Designer Series Paper. I intentionally cut 1/4″ between each piece so the image visually stays together.
I have more layers than the sketch calls for, but you don’t have to follow a sketch exactly. Do what works for you. Here are the measurements I used if you’d like to give this card a try. From the card base up:
- 5 ½” x 11″ Whisper White cardstock folded to 5 ½” x 5 ½”
- 5 ⅛” x 5 ⅛” Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper
- 4 ¾” x 4 ¾” Vellum cardstock with edges distressed
- 4 ¼” x 4 ¼” Whisper White cardstock
- 3 ¾” x 3″ Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper cut into ¾”-wide columns, cutting an extra ¼” between columns
The sentiment was embossed with Shimmer Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and I used some black twine to tie around the focal card. I also pulled the treads apart for a little more visual interest.
I hope you enjoyed my card today and feel inspired to add your project to this week’s sketch. You don’t need a blog to join; you can share from your social media profile too. Click here to play along.
I would love to be your Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator
